I love the song, “This Little Light of Mine”. I honestly believe that singing that song every Sunday on Parris Island is what helped me get through boot camp. Since I’ve gotten truly saved, that song has new meaning to me. As Christians, we are God’s light on this dark world. It’s up to us to shine bright in a sea of despair, to be a beacon for all that are lost. 2 Corinthians 4:6 in the NKJV says, “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” God put that light in our hearts so we could share the love and grace of Jesus Christ to others. Every Christian has a purpose of sharing the good news, in whatever way possible. Some may sing it, some write it, preach it, sign it, draw it, some may just have to live a Christian lifestyle to be an inspiration to others of the change that God can do in your life. It’s not always going to be easy to live this way. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is against us, and for the most part, it is. Paul says in verses 8 and 9, “We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-” To me these last two verses are very inspirational. They say that although the world is trying its best to condemn us, it never will. Not matter what this world tries to throw at us, God will always prevail. 2 Corinthians 4:16 NKJV, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” Each day we stay true to God, we grow stronger. Each day we turn to God instead of drugs or alcohol, we grow stronger. Each day we look at God’s word instead of pornography, we grow stronger. Each day we walk the straight and narrow, our light gets brighter.
